Senior Software Engineer

Sim Ops Studios is looking for a senior software engineer who has experience creating or maintaining a 3D engine. This position will be responsible for guiding and actively participating in the development of a PC-based game engine.

Sim Ops Studios is working on a breakthrough technology that allows for the editing and sharing of 3D worlds, turning it into an everyday experience. The team consists of creative game and simulation developers who are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interactive media.  A spin-off company from Carnegie Mellon University 's Entertainment Technology Center , Sim Ops Studios is charging forward to invent the future of interactivity on the web.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in C/C++
  • Familiar with OpenGL
  • Experience with making a 3D engine work on a variety of PC graphics cards
  • Needs to work well with others
  • A flexible approach to problem solving
  • Ability to verify legal eligibility to work in the USA

Recommended Skills:

  • Experience working with in-browser 3D a plus

Applicants with significant game development experience preferred

 

WIN32 Plugin Developer

Sim Ops Studios is seeking a software engineer with knowledge of development of native-code plugins in the Win32 environment for either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Win32 API and concepts, including ActiveX, COM, library development, threading, and using unmanaged C++ is desired. The position will be responsible for exploring development of a native-code plugin for rendering of web-accessible 3D content in real time.

Sim Ops Studios is working on a breakthrough technology that will make editing and sharing 3D worlds into an everyday experience.

Tasks/Duties:

  • Explore development of realtime applications in the context of a browser plugin environment
  • Develop modular code for cross-browser implementation
  • Develop a browser plugin wrapper for a large unmanaged C++ codebase

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Experience with the Microsoft Win32 API, specifically the threading model, ActiveX, and unmanaged C++
  • Experience developing a plugin using the Win32 API in either Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Capacity to work well with others
  • Flexible approach to problem solving
  • Ability to verify legal eligibility to work in the USA

Recommended Skills:

  • Familiarity with OpenGL
  • Familiarity with game engine design

Applicants with significant game development experience and strong gaming knowledge are preferred. Familiarity with Java and .NET managed code are preferred but not required.
